L. Krinsky and Sons successfully defended itself against a
multi-million dollar defamation claim by ACME Refining Company.
Relying upon radio ads, direct mail pieces, email and accounts of
personal visits as exhibits, ACME accused Krinsky of lying and unfair
business practices. Judgment was entered in favor of Krinsky on
the defamation count without the need for trial. A non-monetary
settlement was reached between the parties with regard to the unfair
business practices count.
Krinsky’s attorney,
David Stieper of Hoffman Estates
Illinois
maintained from the inception of the lawsuit that the defamation count
would fall without need for trial. Mr. Stieper opined that this
was a classic David and Goliath situation in which David won.
